Edit: My opinion is that this new technology should have been called something else and leave the dlss upscaling as a separate path from the ai generated path.

As sooner or later one or more unconstrained ai will likely be created, given they are likely to be more powerful and able to outcompete others at achieving their goals.

I think the universe operates in a very discrete manner, one single bit is modified at a time, as if it were a turing machine, and simultaneity is not real in the underneath mechanics but emerges from the computation. If it is a mind carrying this, it is likely focused on the rules, and individual consciousness emerge at another level as a result of the rule following procedure.
