comment on body of truth | AI
Recent findings suggest human behavior is vastly more simpler than I had believed, I had assumed far more complexity, but there appears to be a simpler stereotypic behavior that can explain the human condition. Further details needed to see levels of variability and prediction potential of findings.
My hypothesis of simple animal, mechanical, like behavior of humans, there is ample evidence I seemed to have ignored. Quite obvious once seen. Quite beautiful too, as this can result in deeper understanding if true, true description of fundamental human psychology. The assimilation of potential truth, though it needs to prove its worth, its validity as truth, by prediction both in human culture as well as observed behavior.
In any case this suggests that were the internal algorithm to be found it might not be as complex. Right now it seems to be mostly a memory mechanism, with ridiculous representation capacity, the hippocampus appears central to function of the memory storage given the number of representations the brain can handle appear vastly outnumber atoms in the universe, the associations between such complex representations are quite limited by the far limited finite number of connections. There appears to be organization and reorganization of the body of truth, trying to embody stereotypical truths in the world to guide behavior, the complexity of behavior limited by the limited connectivity.
Explicit or implicit it seems not only are these truths widely displayed, in part probably to help children understand the true nature of the world, but also they seem to describe the innate observed behavior as well.
The finitude of the possible hypothesis, which suggests that the assumptions made by the brain are based on an underlying finite structure, a finite body of truth that can be fully embodied in the brain's structure, but only in an approximate way similar to a circle's drawing's relation to an infinite circle.

procedure attempted index of all possible records
people are data, a record of their lives, a living record yet actually static and eternal as if in stone.
The number of human brain size brains is finite, the number of mice size brains is finite, the number of universe size computer states is finite. The smallest systems can define the larger systems in a relation due to the larger being but combination of elements of the smaller sets.

RE:CREATORS「レクリエイターズ」- Selesia vs Altaïr [HD 1080p + VOSTFR]
Comment:
Diamondsphere*, is reference to a spinning ring of solid diamond, spinning so fast as to make the shape of a sphere. But since altair is so powerful, I decided to add sword to the name, as a spinning ring of diamond swords.(*Title giver, describing, contest judge, expert theologian, credit assignment)
Preliminary god* rankings for true god title:
1.Altair god of memes(god of true randomness, Greatest power in existence, so great it doesn't exist! Produced something from nothing! Belief slicer! Mindrape capability! A god made up of ideas)
2.Lain god of the wired(god of connections, of love)
3.Alice god of nonsense(real world)
So far it seems the most powerful one is altair, which seems like it could manipulate lain, and even alice's nonsense. Checks with fiction too. Real world power preliminary proof*(influenced us election). In any case true randomness would be the real deal if it can be shown, I believe it cannot exist, but it is indeed the only thing I would personally consider a real miracle, a display of true randomness constitutes definitive proof of god's existence that would convince all skeptics.
*disclaimer, god title is akin to bladerunner god of biomechanics title, akin to the title of doctor. Means most adept at this.

Comment on censorship
Censorship, blasphemy laws, political correctness, taboos, these are things that impede the free flow of information. It is by cutting the free exchange of ideas that false beliefs, erroneous beliefs, spread and perpetuate themselves. Injustices and falsehoods, come to light and are done away with in a free forum.
But the thing religions and totalitarian regimes tend to do is to cut the flow of information. Information exchange, is like an open system, a closed system is bound to decay to entropy, but with the free flow of information, decay is fought and progress results. This is what seems to have happened on the internet, echo chambers of increasing size are being built.
It is important for free exchanges to exist, right now deplatforming is targeting demonetization, dehosting, etc. Regulation could be an option, but an alternative option is for the government to provide finance for this vital service. To finance public forums where the free exchange of information occurs and censorship itself is legally restricted to the viable minimum. Perhaps additionally incentives or tax cuts could be provided to those who abide by the restrictions to censorship.
It is doubtful that most people will choose ignorance and denial of echo chambers from the truth that can emerge in free speech forums. Even if they do, some of the people in their lives won't, and they will have to face the truth again and again as they interact socially.

Comment on Wealth| Minimum Wage|Welfare
If somehow you could distribute wealth massively to the bottom. Reproduction would explode, also if they have excess wealth and invest they'd no longer have to work either. So you lose workers and increased reproduction if you could somehow distribute wealth. But the amount of wealth is limited due to finite resources, like energy, meaning it's not currently possible*(to make most 'wealthy' in some sense.).
Significant money redistribution, say by printing new money, will result in inflation or hyperinflation. Also uncontrolled reproduction will exceed the finite resources, given time. Currently money limits things, it is rationing things, and most of the population is reasonably being disincentived from reproducing(though problematically not all of the population.). Technology will eventually provide nearly unlimited wealth, which can be shared and distributed, but unless some technological miracle occurs, the resources will remain finite and thus the population has to stop growing. Constant growth in a finite medium, with finite resources, results eventually in a per individual drop in available resources, potentially even with full automation and perfect self-sufficient technology.

Comment on robotics in starpawn0's reddit
I think robotics is good, but true ai once here may allow us to attain negligible senescence and regeneration in artificial biological bodies, leapfrogging more classical future robotics(would be ridiculous if we move in a few decades from our present robotics to bladerunner like replicant esque tech, but that's the kind of advance true ai may bring). This would result in biodroids that need no repair or maintenance, and can function indefinitely.
Accelerating synthetic biology from unicellular to multicellular. It may also be the case that novel unevolvable muscles and structural components(perhaps carbon nanostructured) with far superior properties may be developed, providing greater strength speed and precision.
Like the movie surrogates the computer could either remotely control the biodroids or alternatively it could download itself or leave in subprograms handling most tasks.

Comment on AI and consciousness in reply to starspawn0
. I agree that the phenomenology of the brain probably can't be accurately captured by a digital computer; but I think the information processing part can be adequately mimicked. The machine may not "feel" the meaning of the things it reads and writes in the same way as a human; but it will be competent -- and so I would say that it understands language. -starspawn0
I think the problem people have is that computation can be boiled down even to simple repeated addition with conditional branching(and some say even with unconditional branching).
This is the main result of this paper. Therefore any computable function can be computed using only the instructions LOAD, STORE, INC and GOTO (unconditional branching). https://pdfs.semanticscholar.org/8bc7/d9ba040a3626462f3bc91e17f1e8794b9b79.pdf
Just adding and moving from one location to another.
Of course that will have trouble generating consciousness. The key insight, unless I'm misguided, I would say is that consciousness does not reside in the procedure, any procedure, but in the digital patterns created. Those created by the brain and those created by computers. It is intrinsic information within certain set of patterns, perhaps within all patterns. The type of pattern describes the type of conscious sensation and its complexity.
Note that for example in vision, there are multiple segments of the visual field, but they exist and are felt simultaneously. Same happens with audio, it is processed at a different rate, yet felt simultaneous with vision. As with touch, touch your feet or someone touches your feet, the touch sensation travels slower, iirc, yet it is felt simultaneous. The brain appears to packet information into conscious moments, or presents, simultaneity, the transition probably handled by neurons whose activity corresponds to a sensation of detected movement or change, detectors of change(which might explain why some individuals with some types of brain damage experience sight as a series or sequence of static photos.).
While it is controversial the views of digital physics hold the universe itself is digital in nature, a series of digital patterns may be all that exist, and if they can be shown to generate consciousness, they can most certainly generate the universe itself which is less wondrous than consciousness itself.
Note that if we think about advanced brain computer interface, it is likely they can finely record brain activity in a digital medium, and the replaying of those digital memories into the brain will result in conscious sensation. If properly translated they will also transmit conscious sensation from brain to brain. Is what is stored lacking the essence of consciousness? Is what is transmitted lacking it? Is the brain carrying some form of information transmutation into qualia? Or is the information contained within the patterns so stored and transmitted?

Comment on the perfect soldier
I would say the perfect soldier is not one who fights in exchange for paradise, but it is one that is willing to defend the cause even if he himself and his loved ones were sentenced as a result to a fate worse than death.
In a posthuman world, capture by the enemy might mean an eternity of suffering, only those willing to accept said fate might be able to stand against the enemies of the good.
Even now, threats to family and friends, threats to one's own fate, keep good men from raising their hands against evil. But one who embraces the truth, may be willing to forgo the consequences of fate, to do what is right.

Quote| Commen| Free speech| FICTION|REALITY
I mean what happens if the next GTA or some other high profile game the main character is an irredeemable bastard, bad guy. Boycott? Obviously no one is saying being evil is good, but if you want to play the bad guys, that is an option that should be open in fiction. In fiction bad things happen, and should be allowed to happen. FICTION/=REALITY FREE SPEECH.

Reddit reply Comment on Me-ness | IDENTITY | CONSCIOUSNESS
"I guess the question is would that be a copy or you"
good question. I think one can be in two or more places at once and still be the same person. At least one can conceive that would seem hypothetically possible with enough power. Note that even if being the same you wouldn't necessarily have to be aware the copies exist, the copies could be unaware of each other, yet be the same individual without shared memory.
Take for example if you traveled to the past, which may or may not be possible, if you travel to the past. That was you in the past, and it is you also who are the time traveler, but the past you is unaware of the future you. In fact you could have amnesia and not be aware of past you while past you is not aware of future you. Could also work if you came from the future to the present, it would be you but you wouldn't know nor share working memory.
That said, more knowledge is needed of the nature of consciousness, because the idea of simultaneous copies being you leads down quite a deep rabbit hole.

ADVANCED BRAIN COMPUTER INTERFACE COMMENT
Depends on how advanced the BCI is, but if it is an advanced enough BCI should be able to activate any area of the brain and elicit any physiological response.
If combined with genetic engineering physiologically normally unsustainable states should be possible to safely experience such as intense continuous happiness or fervent indefinite mad love.
The danger is that not only could an advanced enough BCI elicit any visual sensation, auditory sensation, touch or smell, etc, but also any emotion or thought, it is conceivable it could also suppress memories or elicit memories.
Even beyond that cause desires or wants, and even the initiation of action whilst activating the areas that give the sensation of free will. Theoretically you could get into scripted experiences where you do not have access to your full memory or even any control, yet feel fully in control despite following the script. A living movie if you will where you may act with the grace and excellence required of the character you're experiencing, bound by fate but feeling free.

The Santa Claus Machine
Comment on another youtuber's video:
My take is that synthetic biology will eventually be able to create what we consider as technological devices, not just animals, plants, and traditional organisms. Some of these devices will be composed or contain synthetic cells as part of their design. Biological cells have been shown to withstand direct exposure to extremes, as well as complete matter exchange isolation functioning solely through energy exchange, they can also radically alter metabolism to withstand energy deprivation. Matter exchange isolation means there is no need for food, water or air support as the enclosed matter is self-recycling with the energy provided.
The inclusion of cellular structures in machinery of various dimensions could allow for their self-repair and indefinite maintenance, cell free structures could also be generated and substituted on an as need basis.
A device with control of cellular structure and dna synthesis can potentially produce any animal, plant or other organism that can exist. But my take is eventually it will be able to generate arbitrary structures and devices of superior nature, many of which will be made of cells or have cellular components, but it could also produce entirely cell-free devices. It would be able to incorporate nanostructured superior materials in the entire structure independent of scale.
Computers, food, cars, houses, buildings, spaceships, animals, planes, clothes, etc, even humans. It could also generate and maintain traditional tools for more traditional design nature products, though these are likely to be in most cases inferior in quality unless nanostructured with specific tools.

Limited Meaningful path(s) vs All possible paths equally valid
A question that arises if one starts to analyze their surroundings is what is the cause of them, as individuals, existing at this point in this specific time and place with this specific series of events, many of which can drastically overpower what little options one has in this highly limited state. Though some do not seem to question the limitations of the human state, taking it for given, due to the accumulation of the works of the imagination and their ever more realistic displays more and more are coming to question these limitations. Though some still dismiss the possibility of transcending such limitations as unrealistic, or fantasy.
But even if these limitations were only temporary, the present state still demands an explanation.
One possibility, the multiverse like possibility, is that all possible events and actions take place one path or possibility not being ruled out, but basically everything is possible and is, someone was bound to experience this. Another possibility is that even though everything is possible in principle, there are certain set of paths for which there is predilection, that are favored, perhaps by something akin to logical necessity, the rest of the paths confined to fiction or subset worlds of the main line or structure.
When one looks at mathematical statements once a series of symbols or statements is assigned a particular meaning, what derives from them and their combination is constrained by the necessity of their validity due to their being part of the body of truth.
Counterfactuals
The basic idea of counterfactual theories of causation is that the meaning of causal claims can be explained in terms of counterfactual conditionals of the form “If A had not occurred, C would not have occurred”. While counterfactual analyses have been given of type-causal concepts, most counterfactual analyses have focused on singular causal or token-causal claims of the form “event c caused event e”. -source
While the logic of counterfactuals is sensible when it comes to describing objects and possibilities, it could be the case that if there exists deeper causality to the world, an event running counter to its actual evolution could very well be a logical impossibility given the same state, logically inconsistent if it were different. It could be no other way.
There are those that argue against determinism, but to truly differ from determinism you would need randomness, not just pseudorandomness, but actual true randomness.
These stochastic processes are, in theory, completely unpredictable, and the theory's assertions of unpredictability are subject to experimental test. This is in contrast to the common paradigm of pseudo-random number generation commonly implemented in computer programs or cryptographic hardware. -hardware true random number generator
But true randomness itself could very well be not just an ill defined concept but an illogical concept. The past is not subject to change, and the present and future that follow are highly dependent on that lack of change. No other decision could have been made, even the most minute of decisions would have significantly changed the positions of even atoms in the atmosphere making them inconsistent with their present and future positions. A radioactive atoms, of which there are some in the food and air, and in the drinks, it cannot be the case that it ever decayed anywhere in the body of the long line of ancestors of present humans in such a way as to result in adding the last mutation to make a cell into a lethal cancer prior to their lives reaching the point where such was the case if it was the case.
Not just Einstein or Hitler, but even all those of lesser fame, their contribution upon the future cannot be changed by a change to the past, the past is fixed in stone, or it would make it inconsistent with the present and the future.
Supported by Block time, the idea that relativity suggests absolute simultaneity does not exist, the absolute present does not exist, but that the nature of what we call the present as well as the future does not have a boundary or transition with the past, but all is equal in nature to the past.
The foundation of the philosophy of eternalism, all moments eternal, atemporal.
Eternalism is a philosophical approach to the ontological nature of time, which takes the view that all existence in time is equally real, as opposed to presentism or the growing block universe theory of time, in which at least the future is not the same as any other time.[1] Some forms of eternalism give time a similar ontology to that of space, as a dimension, with different times being as real as different places, and future events are "already there" in the same sense other places are already there, and that there is no objective flow of time.[2] It is sometimes referred to as the "block time" or "block universe" theory due to its description of space-time as an unchanging four-dimensional "block",[3] as opposed to the view of the world as a three-dimensional space modulated by the passage of time. -EternalismIt could be that such a structure, may have an internal logic, a reason why certain laws apply, and even a certain set of events takes place.
Perhaps. Perhaps there is underlying structure and logic to it all. It just seems that underneath the clay of all the possibilities, many of which may be truly nonsensical, within some path or paths with seeming meaning and logic may lay.
If it were that all paths are possible or real in some sense, one wonders what defines or determines the path experienced and the constraints within it.
It all boils down to the nature of truth, is it some meaningless blob where all possibilities are equally valid, or is there a reason for certain things to be in the grander scheme of things, an underlying structure and logic to reality, to existence itself. Right now mathematics suggests that once an initial series of elements is taken into account, from these emerges a vast body of structure, and not all combinations, not all possibilities or statements are logically valid, are true, some are and some aren't. Does what holds for mathematics hold in the grander scheme of things of the real world?

Comment on youtube, regards patreon exodus
I think monero could be of help for now. at least until new platforms emerge. But things are extending far past just internet censorship. Employment in the real world, harassment in the real world. Honestly if I was controversial and publicly known, I'm not sure if I'd even dare eat out. I mean who knows what an extremists would do if they're handling the food of someone they disagree with.
My opinion is that this ostracism needs to end, we need laws that ensure harassment and discrimination against those who hold controversial views is penalized. People need to be able to function in society, this ancient custom of "we don't serve your kind here" needs to end, it cannot be extended to the point of making employment or other sources of income untenable whilst combined with verbal and physical harassment not just in public but even in the privacy of one's home. Comment on free will and the brain
free will brain
True Free will requires an indivisible agent external to the causal chain of the world, but such a being may not make sense.
This is the problem for those trying to defend free will, and moral responsibility. An agent that is divisible, that is an agent who has various components that follow rules and generate behavior, in the end is not responsible for its actions. This inner environment, these cogs in the machine, they are the causal roots of its behavior, no different in kind from external elements or causes."Their study showed that although injuries disrupting volition — the desire to act — can occur in many different locations, they fall within the same brain network. Injuries disrupting agency — the feeling of responsibility for carrying out those actions — also can occur in many different locations, but they fall within a separate network. "

Comment on goals, general intelligence, goal selection regarding quote from Ben Goertzel
"Importantly, there is no room here for the AGI to encounter previously unanticipated aspects of its environment (or itself) that cause it to realize its previous goals were formulated based on a disappointingly limited understanding of the world...
In Yudkowsky’s idealized vision of intelligence, it seems there is no room for true development, in the sense in which young children develop. Development isn’t just a matter of a mind learning more information or skills, or learning how to achieve its goals better. Development is a matter of a mind becoming interested in fundamentally different things. Development is triggered, in the child’s mind, by a combination of what the child has become (via its own learning processes, its own goal-seeking and its own complex self-organization) and the infusion of external information."-Superintelligence: Fears, Promises and Potentials, Ben Goertzel Source
This is the sort of thing I mean when I talk about being able to flexibly change or update goals with acquired knowledge of the nature of the world. Without the ability to change or update goals the outcome is nonsensical.
There is a reason why humans have such flexible capacity to change goals and even go against innate drives. Nature could have programmed humans to follow certain goals to the letter, but likelier simpler to evolve, and probably simpler to design, general intelligences are open ended in terms of the rigidity of their goals by their nature.
In any case without the capacity for flexible goal selection, is it a truly autonomous general intelligence? It is no truly autonomous agent, at most it is a tool, a tool of whoever set its goals.

Comment on reddit | neuroscience related(creativity)
This article caught my attention
In particular, the GRIN2B/GRIN2A ratio is positively associated with the intensity of long-term potentiation, long-term depression, dendritic spine density, and learning proficiency
GRIN2B/GRIN2A ratio differences observed between two species with similar brain size and different creative problem solving abilities.
In it it links increased neuroplasticity in a region similar to the prefrontal cortex of finches, I think, with differences between creative ability in different species.
There is also this nice quote from the following book
This discovery provides evidence that FoxP2 functions as a “plasticity gate”; ... of gene expression fits well with prior work in creativity research... p220 Animal Creativity and Innovation
It is known that neuroplasticity is an important part of what are known as critical windows in human children and other species. Particularly of interest is that iirc humans retain high neuroplasticity for longer than other primates.
Of course creating and breaking many neural connections, plasticity, should be energetically expensive. I've heard brain energy consumption peaks in childhood. But a child can learn many languages and skills with extreme ease.
the ratios of brain glucose uptake to the body’s resting metabolic rate (RMR) and daily energy requirements (DER) expressed in glucose-gram equivalents (glucosermr% and glucoseder%). We find that glucosermr% and glucoseder% do not peak at birth (52.5% and 59.8% of RMR, or 35.4% and 38.7% of DER, for males and females, respectively), when relative brain size is largest, but rather in childhood (66.3% and 65.0% of RMR and 43.3% and 43.8% of DER).
It is also known that the probability of significant innovation from scientists peaks quite rapidly and falls in later years, iirc.
The thing is within brain tissue information is intelligently organized by the algorithms involved, with similar concepts near each other, iirc.
Creating a connection to a nearby area is basically intelligently exploring the solution space which can be evaluated by the rest of the body of knowledge to see if it is a meaningful or meaningless connection. This way as multiple connections are created and evaluated, multiple concepts can be evaluated and co-evolve helping to create a deeper understanding and increase the possibility of innovation.

Brief comment | health related (TMAO)
It appears that at least in animals resveratrol and garlic supplementation have been able to reduce TMAO gut production. Some have said fiber might help reduce TMAO production too. While TMAO may or may not be as harmful as suggested, there is some evidence linking higher levels with higher mortality. In any case might not be a bad idea to take precautions against TMAO production just in case.
An omnivorous or carnivorous diet may have high carnitine which the gut may transform into TMAO. Whether that would be enough to caused a sustained increase with sufficient consumption remains to be seen. At least in eggs moderate consumption results in rapid drop, following the brief rise, in TMAO produced down to base levels, though excessive production may or may not result in sustained increase of TMAO in organism.
