"In a world made up of information, that which manipulates information is king"-DS

The advancement of civilization appears to be a sort of advancement in the ability to manipulate information.   A tower of babel if you will.   But in the case of technological progress it is built faster and faster, and it can indeed breach the heavens, it can even bring the living truth down from the trone and into physical manifestation within the world.   But such towers, the rumor is the taller they get the closer to collapse they get.   Fermi paradox suggests there may be some truth to the rumors, as well as dangerous resource depletion and environmental destruction of the earth.

humans appear to be manipulating some shared underlying structure, perhaps some manner of shared body of memories, of information, which may be the core of existence itself.  Might explain mysterious pattern relations that appear to extend beyond what one would find reasonable(at least one would think such extensive patterns would be more noticed and commmented upon.).

Nice quotes | LEXX SERIES

Kai:
His Shadow!
His Divine Shadow:
His Divine Shadow. Yes.
Kai:
The Brunnen-G will defeat you!
His Divine Shadow:
I did not think so. The power of order has destroyed your planet. The power of order will destroy you. And you are the last of the Brunnen-G left alive.
Kai:
The Time Prophet has seen your order destroyed by the Brunnen-G.
His Divine Shadow:
The Time Prophet's vision appears to be flawed.
[Stabs Kai in the chest with a dagger]
[an officer steps forward as His Shadow looks to him]
Foreshadow Officer:
We will incinerate the carcass.
His Divine Shadow:
No. This last specimen of the now extinct culture of romantic dreamers merits punishment beyond death. Transport him to the bio-scholars.

QUOTE | POWER OF BIOLOGY SURPRISES SCIENTISTS YET AGAIN

[Lloyd said: “The strangest thing for me is that some organisms can exist for millennia. They are metabolically active but in stasis, with less energy than we thought possible of supporting life.”]-guardian

Quote| Commen| Free speech| FICTION|REALITY

I mean what happens if the next GTA or some other high profile game the main character is an irredeemable bastard, bad guy. Boycott? Obviously no one is saying being evil is good, but if you want to play the bad guys, that is an option that should be open in fiction. In fiction bad things happen, and should be allowed to happen. FICTION/=REALITY FREE SPEECH.

Comment on youtube, regards patreon exodus

I think monero could be of help for now. at least until new platforms emerge.   But things are extending far past just internet censorship.    Employment in the real world, harassment in the real world.   Honestly if I was controversial and publicly known, I'm not sure if I'd even dare eat out.   I mean who knows what an extremists would do if they're handling the food of someone they disagree with.

My opinion is that this ostracism needs to end, we need laws that ensure harassment and discrimination against those who hold controversial views is penalized.    People need to be able to function in society, this ancient custom of "we don't serve your kind here" needs to end, it cannot be extended to the point of making employment or other sources of income untenable whilst combined with verbal and physical harassment not just in public but even in the privacy of one's home. Nice quote

"If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter."-George Washington

Excellent quote from George Washington.   Across the globe those that defend freedom are being fought by the enemies of freedom, the enemies of mankind.  We must hope that freedom prevails over the tyranny of the few.

Quote on nanotech | WMC

"Keep in mind nanotech alone is already world rebuilding stuff, a weapon of mass construction. A nanotech machine wave can digest entire cities and all of its inhabitants and turn them into arbitrary stuff if desired. Neither police, nor conventional military would be able to halt such a wave, it would be like a tsunami, but rather than destruction it would bring remodeling."

nice quote from a thread | preservation of life related

"the sun will kill all lifeforms on earth in several 100 million years, iirc. Only hope most life on earth has(excluding bacteria and tardigrades kicked off planet by meteors) is humans' technological progress.

To be sequenced and stored in permanent quartz memory, their genes would last billions of years, and with technology renewing memory, trillions of years. Future DNA synthesis and the fabled universal artificial womb would allow them to be brought to life again and again far beyond the lifespan of any species that has ever existed on earth.
Once stored no species would ever go extinct."-DaC

The idea that we should unjustly punish, jail or in some cases kill innocents to deter crime or facilitate law enforcement, such is abhorrent to me.-DS

nice quotes 9 28 2016

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." - Arthur C. Clarke

From the point of view of the conscious observer basically any sensation or experience can be had through future advanced neural interfaces, which would be able to generate a whole new reality atop our current one.   Whether the current one can be molded, so called reality warping, is an open question.   Scientists have hypothesized that the settings of the universe may be ones not shared with other hypothetical universes within views of a possible multiverse.  But if the laws could have indeed taken on hypothetical alternate values, it may be the case that they still can take alternate values, and like the case with metamaterials allowing new possibilities, nature might be bent and the rules changed with a carefully engineered experiment, machine.

nice quote and comment

"All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others".-animal farm

Animal Farm is an allegorical and dystopian novella by George Orwell, first published in England on 17 August 1945. According to Orwell, the book reflects events leading up to the Russian Revolution of 1917 and then on into the Stalinist era of the Soviet Union.[1] Orwell, a democratic socialist,[2] was a critic of Joseph Stalin and hostile to Moscow-directed Stalinism, an attitude that was critically shaped by his experiences during the Spanish Civil War.[3] The Soviet Union, he believed, had become a brutal dictatorship, built upon a cult of personality and enforced by a reign of terror. In a letter to Yvonne Davet, Orwell described Animal Farm as a satirical tale against Stalin ("un conte satirique contre Staline"),[4] and in his essay "Why I Write" (1946), wrote that Animal Farm was the first book in which he tried, with full consciousness of what he was doing, "to fuse political purpose and artistic purpose into one whole".-wiki source link

We can say that ALL VOTES ARE EQUAL BUT SOME VOTES ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS.   The vote of the owner of a media empire, by virtue of its ability to influence millions or tens of millions, is worth more than the single vote of a random individual who only influences a few individuals in their social sphere.

Now a machine able to distort all forms of information from all sources physical or 'virtual', such a machine would have single vote able to trump all other votes even if all other votes were combined... the very law itself would no longer apply as it would be the embodiment of the law.

nice quote from nice book

We would rather, if we had to, try justifying our legislation in terms of
the content of some concept, conceived ahistorically, however imperfectly we may
be able to perceive it. Because of what it is to be human, we might say, even an
Ancient slave was not, of its nature, a slave...I am claiming, then, rightly or wrongly, that in ethical judgement-making we feel ourselves bound by transhistorical and universal principles.-Mind Design and Minimal Syntax Book by Wolfram Hinzen
