comment on Technological Singularity video from youtube

A comment on the above video from Isaac Arthur's channel:

What happens with regards to potential singularity depends on minimal
resource use for simplest design. Remember in animals greater sensory
surface, bigger bodies, demand bigger brains just to cope with the
sensory input. Smaller animals can often compete or outcompete larger
animals in intellectual capacity. An artificial general intelligence
could have subinsect sensory surface, but far greater 'encephalization'
with even a fraction of human brain computational resources.

Regards self improvement, unlike humans who've been struggling for decades without a science of mind design. The first agis will have a nascent science of mind design, a science which they will further develop, like the science of aeronautics which allowed for marvelous advances in short order, mind design science might allow for drastic increases in capability perhaps reaching theoretical design limits within a human lifespan.

You also have to keep in mind that unlike our progress with aeronautics, as you said the subjective time of the machine might be at a greater speed than realtime. At 10x speed with a suitable science underlying its advances, a century of progress would occur in a decade. Of course it all depends on the nature of the science of mind design and whether it opens up such engineering advancements.
