Video about advances in biotechnology and a video about the real appearance of the dodo from de-extinction series of videos of Colossal Biosciences youtube channel

Comment: In this video a group of researchers talks about development of artificial eggs, it hasn't been peer-reviewed yet, but birds did successfully hatch.  It is part of the technology that they are developing to help in de-extinction of lost bird species, some of which might have eggs far bigger than those seen by any existing bird.

Comment: The video traces back to the artist who actually saw a dead preserved dodo, with talks with an art historian, and how the popularized appearance of the dodo has been compromised throughout the historical record.  How other artists produced more accurate images with actual experience with the live bird. And tells of the de-extinction initiative to try and bring it back. It's a very entertaining and educational video.

Video about molecular motor and video about synthetic biology

Comment: A videoregards one of the molecular motors found in nature.  Nature provides proof in principle that molecular machines including complex ones can work in the real world and are allowed by the laws of physics.  In this video they show how it moves. It has very good animation shown throughout the video. This is old news discovery, but it is an interesting one.
It is my belief that eventually the design of artificial systems making use of these, will provide a new level of technology, allowing for cheap manufacturing of complex products, as well as viable renewables that can last indefinitely as molecular machines can be made to self-repair at the atomic level indefinitely.   This will be done through advanced synthetic biology.
Comment: In this video some of the latest advancements in synthetic biology are mentioned, as well as the promise of going beyond evolution into the synthesis of novel useful materials with nanostructured properties.

But even beyond this advanced synthetic biology will eventually lead to the creation of artificial living machines that perform useful functions such as high efficiency conversion of sunlight into chemical fuels or electricity.   Through the combinations of genes from different organisms, traits such as self-regeneration and agelessness or biological immortality can be imbued into living machines in addition to unevolvable traits.

Commentary on two ai videos related to graph engineering

Comment: In this video youtuber Greg Isenberg explains graph engineering in plain English.  How it is a useful term unlike some other recent terms in ai that are just hype and not very useful.  He also briefly covers other useful ai terms that have emerged regarding llms.  Throughout the video he gives several examples and also suggests when it's useful to use it.
Comment: In this video by youtuber Sean loops are compared with graph engineering.  He also covers some of the earlier terms and how the use of ai evolved over time.  Giving examples along the way.

Pimax Dream Air Review

A review of the Pimax Dream Air vr headset.  A cool small lightweight vr headset with eye tracking and excellent visuals.   VR needs these lighter headsets so as to allow for more comfort during long play sessions.

Comment on youtube, regards patreon exodus

I think monero could be of help for now. at least until new platforms emerge.   But things are extending far past just internet censorship.    Employment in the real world, harassment in the real world.   Honestly if I was controversial and publicly known, I'm not sure if I'd even dare eat out.   I mean who knows what an extremists would do if they're handling the food of someone they disagree with.

My opinion is that this ostracism needs to end, we need laws that ensure harassment and discrimination against those who hold controversial views is penalized.    People need to be able to function in society, this ancient custom of "we don't serve your kind here" needs to end, it cannot be extended to the point of making employment or other sources of income untenable whilst combined with verbal and physical harassment not just in public but even in the privacy of one's home. The MYTH of Trickle Down Economics | comment

A comment on a video no longer online from youtuber Political Juice:

There is an optimal tax rate that maximizes gov revenue, go above or below it and you'll be suboptimal and decrease revenue.   But it is likely that some will try to argue for an ever lower rate regardless.  Things like bailouts could be viewed as negative rates in some cases.  In the end all real economic activity is based on the use of energy, which at any time is limited, the activity can be maximized up to a limit.  In fact if a tax cut failed to increase revenue in the following years, it should be re evaluated and potentially reversed barring no extenuating circumstances.

Do note that companies like amazon are a threat to most retail stores, and promise to replace many retail stores with a highly automated system with far less workers.   Innovation will lead to increased automation and high unemployment.

Regards intel it used its vast power to make unfair monopolistic practices some say involving suppliers and vendors that strangled amd, affecting the quality of amd's products for years.  Intel was fined for its actions. After squelching amd's quality, it started stagnating in its own products, producing products that were minor improvements year on year and charging exorbitant prices.   Amd managed to survive intel's abuses, and even though being an underfunded underdog, recently released the innovative ryzen architecture, which has surprised intel and forced them to cut prices and attempt to increase innovation.

Regards pension funds, iirc, Buffet bet the S.P 500 index fund would beat actively managed funds, and it did.   These overpaid people are paid exorbitant fees to inefficiently manage resources to produce less money than index funds, a needless waste.

As for the idea that some people put in the money, the monetary system is merely a token system to bid for the limited finite resources available, natural resources that are the inheritance of all mankind, not some particular family lineages.   Inherited or earned, it is like a vote from the population for you to be able to manage more resources.  If resources concentrate on the hands of those fit to better manage, it increases wealth and innovation.

But the votes of the majority even if they don't realize what they are doing, are only to be tolerated so long as they don't lead to rampant abuse and inefficiency.  The majority may give money and power to cult leaders, to snake oil salesmen, etc. they give money in excess for no reason at all.  So the majority says X person should have the right to make a large chunk of resources their private property?

Whether they do it with 'money' or with actual votes, voting for a totalitarian dictator, their choices can be questioned.  They elect presidents and governments, and things go well, they elect totalitarian dictators and things go south.   Same happens with what they do with their money, while on the short term it may not lead to such extreme consequences, it can still lead to issues.  But in the long term there are problems.   Income inequality is a fair part of the system up to a level, but extreme income inequality that results from the inevitable long term concentration of wealth is not.

This YouTube star makes $1,800 a month reviewing fast food

Sitting in his parent's living room in suburban New York, Youtube food reviewer "ReportOFTheWeek" skeptically eyes his newest subject: Burger King's Cheetos Chicken Fries.-source cnn link

I would agree that that would be a very good way to make money, that is youtube reviews of foods, that I also like sampling new food, but I believe fast foods should be both healthier and bolder in their new plates, offering more exotic experiences.

cool vids

Comment on the above, I find it likely that the ultimate rules are likely deterministic.  Uncaused, truly random, events don't seem sensible.

Comment on the above, while Wolfram seems to say an AGI agent might not have its own self produced goals, that we'd give it its goals, I don't necessarily agree.   My hypothesis is that the simplest designs for complex enough artificial agents likely necessitate they tend to gain many if not most of their goals by learning about the behavior and goals of the agents to which they are exposed and of which they can conceive, they create internal models of other agents and use these models to guide behavior.  At least I think that's the easier path, complex programming of complex specific goals be it by genes or software code, is likely to be harder than self organizing behavior emerging from environmental exposure.   Also I find it hard to believe that an agent can be truly generally intelligent without being able to evaluate and compare goals by various means, and even comparing the means themselves, later being able to choose amongst these goals.
