Comments on a youtuber's video about state of agi progress

1. There is crystallized intelligence, which is basically established knowledge and skills, and fluid intelligence which is the ability to acquire new knowledge and skills on the fly.   The problem with the current system is that while it can temporarily acquire knowledge and skills for new tasks at least simple tasks through the harness, it still cannot convert these to crystallized intelligence on short order like the human brain does.  a link commenting about the two https://www.ebsco.com/research-starters/religion-and-philosophy/fluid-and-crystallized-intelligence

2. I do believe AGI will change everything overnight, currently we have proto-agi, it is superhuman in some areas and subhuman in others while having some levels of generality through crystallized intelligence.   The thing is with the current path; we will likely reach AGI that will potentially be superhuman at most tasks from the outset.   This means research in robotics, synthetic biology, and even ai itself will likely drastically be sped up.   Synthetic biology in particular is highly promising as many biologists do not have the imagination to see the vast potential that remains untapped with unevolvable designs, extremophiles have only hinted at its potential, cells have the potential to make part of a new era of self-repairing self-replicating technological and manufacturing base combining and exceeding the best of man-made products and nature, allowing for the use of cheap ubiquitous materials to provide unlimited energy and material abundance.
